This post is titled Wasai Wong Kadir pt. 1 by author SoulJah. DSC_3981 (by SoulJah)

A light drizzle greeted us from our slumber last Sunday, which was to be our biggest trekking outing for the Forum members. Doubts were cast, wondering if the rain will persist the whole day, and if the weather would clear just about enough to permit us to go nature trekking up into the hills of Wasai Wong Kadir. A quick drive over to HSBC Jerudong, where the decision to go ahead or not was to be made; quick glances on all the faces to see if any disapproval to go ahead for the drive over to Labi, somehow, we all just loaded up into the transports, and a non verbal agreement was made to decide later after the drive over the the state borders.

After the drive down to Sungai Liang to meet up with the KB chapter of our forumites, the light rain still persisted. I proclaimed I'm going up regardless, and if everyone's still up for a trek in the rain, we go ahead; and anyone who decides against it can sit it out. Almost all were in for it, seeing we just had a long drive over, might as well. After a quick prayer, we set out slowly, meandering through the slippery trails, over branches, on slippery moss covered rocks, in the light rain, with the cool surrounding air the whole time we were there.

After a good 30 minutes trek, we were greeted by the cool water of the Wasai, and some of the Forumites decide to reward themselves with a dip. Hardly anyone could resist taking even dipping their feet into the cool morning water, and under the guise of 'taking a good composition for the photo', yours truly went with tripod in hand into the water to take a couple of photos.

It was worth it.

This post is titled Need further convincing that the E71 is an awesome phone? by author SoulJah. e71 (by SoulJah)
http://www.cnet.com.au/mobilephones/pdaphones/0%2C239036203%2C339290943%2C00.htm.

No matter what the two staunch supporters of the Samsung i780 (70%, lads, down near the bottom) from the office, the E71 still rules above all. Basically the two has the same basic feature set, QWERTY smartphone, GPS, HSDPA, the only crucial difference being the E71 lacks a touchscreen. Turns out, didn't even need a touchscreen to nab top place. The thing even beat out the JesusPhone 3G!

Everyone who's anyone has one of these, Anakbrunei and Ahim Rani each has one. Not to mention Airbiscuit and Sudiru who caught the Geotagging and Geotripping (my own word...) bug utilizing the E71's built-in, and decidedly impressive GPS radio, marking down their photography treks onto Google Earth and Google Map.

How impressive? I logged a 200km journey with the GPS signal holding reasonable well, Geotagging images as I go along. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Next up. I'm gonna try GeoHashing.

This post is titled Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque by author SoulJah. DSC_8073 (by SoulJah)

Was doing a bit of shooting at Sheraton, which comes up in the next post, and I was driving over to Hua Ho to check out a lens case for my smaller lenses, when I saw the shimmering reflection off of the nation's most famous landmark, the golden domes of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. When I stopped by closer to take this photo, I saw other BruneiForever Forum members also taking shots here, as well as various other people taking snapshots of the great mosque. The facelift which had just concluded recently really brought out the splendour of the dome.

Interesting patterns...

Last Thursday was the most gruelling coverage I've ever done. From 8am to 5pm, a 9 hour shoot, capturing the happenings and goings on at the RBA Hari Raya Celebration. With the theme of Balik Kampung, the RBRC Sports Complex was transformed into a Kampung scene, complete with a live band, a fence off dance area, which was sadly underutilized, else it'd make for a great photo op. Top it off with a great Gambus band outside, which belted out a Gambus-ified version of Santana's Black Magic Woman at our request. Great, great event.

More will be posted soon with a link to the complete set. As of now, the upload's at 20%.
