This post is titled War of the Worlds!!! by author SoulJah. That movie was awesome. The first movie where you think there was no hope for mankind anymore. The retro looking machines that goes off on a rampage was pretty menacing as well. The sound that it made when it's about to go on a killing spree was terrifying.

I like how they went with the story here. They're just focusing on a normal family, just a plain normal family trying to save their own hides. And their interaction with a few thousand other people who are so scared, they're willing to do anything to try to run and hide. It's how normal people can turn to psychos if they're terrified to shits.

A good movie, doesn't go wonky with the special effects, only needing it at scenes where it's absolutely necessary. The cinematography is awesome, a tad dizzying though, as the actors faces sometimes take up a third of the screen and they move quite a lot in that space, but when you watch the scene where the camera was panning from the right side of the car, pulls out, swoops the ground loking up at the car moving to the left side of the car, and then pulling in tight looking through the windshield without nary a cut, you'd be surprised as well.

A very good movie, very artfully done, just... don't be too hard on the ending. They needed an ending, and a happy one at that, so... just... don't be too critical on that ok?

8 Tripozigods out of 9.

This post is titled PortableFirefox by author SoulJah. Sorry about the icon container being way up there, but blogger is currently inserting some codes into each posts, something like <div style="clear:both;"></div>, and that just drives me insane. Argh.

Anyhow, onto our post for tonight. I was sitting at the computer lab, on a PC, surfing with IE, without Firefox. I'm not a big fan of Firefox though, but surfing without tabs and "middle-click-and-open-into-new-tab" is just maddening. There I sat, pondering my predicament. I thought, wouldn't it be cool if they have Firefox that you can load up on a USB thumb drive and surf off of that.

Behold, PortableFirefox.

Surprised I was!

Nice feature that I particularly like is that I can store my Proxy username and password (yeah they have this Nazi thing where we must input our username and password everytime we wanna surf a page) and let Firefox remember that so I can just plug in my USB drive and surf without entering the password.

Just... go download it and try it out. You know you want to.

This post is titled Batman Begins and Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy by author SoulJah. WERE GREAT!!! Just watched both last night one after the other, and boy were they awesome.

Started off watching Batman Begins alone (i.e. no other buds were with me coz they already watched it) and I have to tell ya, if future Batman movies are gonna be half as good as this, I think George Clooney and Val Kilmer will cringe everytime they remember they did a Batman movie. Christian Bale makes them look... silly. The cinematography alone during the early half of the movie was enough to erase the bad memories of Chris O'Donnel suiting up as Robin.

We watched Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy next. Yes, it has been out in other parts of the world, but it's only been released here in Brunei since yesterday. And guess what? There were only 4 of us watching the thing while the rest of Brunei are watching Initial D and calling that a good movie. Yeah, we are the bastion of good taste.

Anyway, this was quite a surprising movie, having not read the books, I didn't know quite what to expect, but ten minutes in, I was already laughing my head off. I can't quite put my finger on what made it a great experience, but when you see a whale falling through the air and the only thing running through your head is "Oh..." you know that movie's great. C;ever piece of writing. I should get the books.

This post is titled Google sees where I live! by author SoulJah. Google Maps. See those rectangular water areas? To the left of it is some housing complex where one part forms a D. Right at the top of that D, that's where I am right now. Freaky innit?

This post is titled SavitMicro Rapsody by author SoulJah. There was a time when I was sitting in front of the telly, with USB external hard drive in one hand, and tv remote in the other. Then I try bashing em together to see the concoction I just triggered off in my brain would instamagically translate into the two items fusing. "Must... make... files... on... TV..."

Didn't work.

So, I made a compromise. I said to myself, "I'll just tether this to the new computer... oh no wait, not gonna buy a new one... Or maybe buy that enclosure that cos BND$900 that can connect the drive up through Ethernet to my Access Point... no wait... too expensive... Or keep the wi fi and just get that router that I can connect USB drive too... Oh wait... That's not Samba, that's only FTP..." at which point I'd blank out and fall asleep. And yes... That's an actual train of thought...

So yeah... There that idea languished again, until I saw blips of report from Engadget [SavitMicro Rapsody], eHomeUpgrade [SavitMicro Rapsody] via eHomeUpgrade [SavitMicro MediaMan] via Gizmodo [SavitMicro MediaMan].

While my favourite was still the K600i [StupidLogic Link] from a while back (still not released yet though) but Nokia's new offering in the form of Nokia 6280 [GSM Arena] brings my allegience back to the Nokia camp.

Comparison Page [GSM Arena]

This post is titled So P2F just concluded... by author SoulJah. And... I have to say... yeah... whatever...

I thought Bruneians are the types of people who always love to see misery in others and can never see other Bruneians happy, but somehow, they said that almost 10,000 people voted on the first full fledged Bruneian reality-TV/talent contest show. That was... weird...

One thing I can't understand is why the hell do we need for this in Brunei? I've heard of the comment of one of the judges (from Malaysia) that he commented on one of the student's as the first time he has heard a Bruneian can really sing. Like...

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Like a big Rick James slap.

I mean c'mon. Reality tv can be fun, but it's not good just copping off Malaysia here. Hell the name could really be attributed to a long lost Malaysian talent show, Sinaran Passport Kegemilangan, the Paspot and Fame being the prerogative word here. And yeah, if they do become winners, so... what's next? Cut a record deal? Like *snicker* Mz^Shorty or Lo Ryder? *snicker* *snicker* So... know anyone who bought the cds and still have it? Last I've seen was a stack full of her cds at that cd shop at Centrepoint. Like whoa. Flying off the shelves there!

Ok... I take it back. Reality TV is the stupidest idea ever, and this is after watching countless American Choppers, Rich Girls, My Sweet 16 Birthdays, Raising Gottis and oh dear god the countless other iterations on the same basic idea.

But I digress...

Yeah, so where do they go after winning the thing? Make records? Make more records? Get it up to gold status? Platinum? Touring? International exposure? Hell no.

I'm not gonna run up to them on the streets. The countless Bruneian artists before this ain't getting my respect, and none in the future ever will. After the debacle of our "sole artiste" from way back when, when she got checked into the druggie rehab center, I lost respect. None of them are the bastion of morals that the kids are supposed to look up to, so no, no respect for any of them.

When jobs are getting vacuumed by foreigners in this country, and kids aspiring to be as worthless as they can be, or trying to do a worthless vocation like being an artist, it all seems so maddening to me. Just when the economy is needing some much needed boost in other economies.

Yeah, go ahead. Sing. Let's see how far that'll take ya.
