This post is titled I'll refrain from complaining this time... by author SoulJah. And ask for their help in a peaceful and non-threatening manner... What the hell am I talking about? This...

I thought that they might want to fiddle around with the telephone wires, but nah, I guess I just plug in my telephone line and I'm ready to go? Well that's what I thought around 7 hours ago and I still can't get this Broadband Trial to work. I'll call em up nice and early tomorrow morning so I can cut in line and be the first to complain. I called them at around 2, but the guy had the flu (or so I thought) so I guess I didn't want to bother him. I read the manual and saw figures like 8Mbps downstream, and 1Mbps upstream. Or was that 1.5 Mbps downstream and 512 Kbps upstream? Whichever way, "Sheat!". Other than that, my neighbour just gave birth to a baby, and I was a wee bit involved. Such an honor. And it's now about 28 Hours til New Years. Like I give a damn.

This post is titled Went out from my dank room today... by author SoulJah. And found out why I hate going out in the first place. Had to anyway, to pick up my laptop which I left overnight at C.F. King. Good bless that technicians soul for trying, but my Wi Fi is still on the fritz. Checked it at ITB, but it still won't work there. Well I can give him the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe the lecturers turned of the Wi Fi there. Well anyhow, I'm gonna make one of them come to ITB and fiddle around with the settings a bit. Yeah, I like to give people hell. I complained to Clevo, the manufacturers, and I even complained to BruNet for the slow service. Yeah such a bastard. And I got a call from one of my relatives at BruNet saying that I may be won't getting the Broadband trial. Well, no matter. But, I first thought he was gonna give me a thorough trashing for e-mailing and complaining to JTB.

Well back to my first sentence on why I hate going out. Lulled about in Yayasan after ITB, and my oh my. Poklans are fast becoming my most disliked group of people. I think they rank up there with Filipinos and smelly Thais. Well I am not a racist. Indons are cool. I know of a few Indons, and they are cool. Anyway, like everywhere I go in that godforsaken place, there are poklans. Well except for Paul & Elizabeth, because I know I can take a respite there from going over the boat with images of poklans filling my vision while I descend to the bottom of the sea. Crosshairs on heads never seemed the more appropriate.

Speaking of crosshairs, you gotsta try Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Such a cool game. Actually I've been looking for a good, old school dogfighting game ever since Microsoft had their flying game thingy (yes, I forgot it's name). The best thing is that you actually dogfight real close, not like flight sims where you just fire a missile and look at the speck in the distance blow up into colourful specks. And with a current gameranking of fourth from current PS2 releases, you know it ain't a dog of a dogfightin' game.

Edit: I was on heavy medication just now for my flu, and it worked helluva great. Some nasty looking red pill though.

This post is titled Thank god I didn't take UBD... by author SoulJah. Coz if I did, I would be more worried of my current state... I think I'm in that 2001 February to July frame of mind. That was when I wasted time and I wished I could get them back. Right now, I'm slipping slowly into laziness again. And I think I know the culprit. This damn Internet. Yes. Damn it. I should be working on my Turbo C skillz. And I should be already coding proper PHP stuff by now. And upping my layout. And doing some 1337 Flash stuff. Running SuSE. And Knoppix. And I should've gotten a... Damn... And sleeping at 5 to 6 AM ain't helping shit either. I'd wake up at 3 in the afternoons, feel groggy, eat something, then sleep again, then it's night. And I'd be surfing useless stuff until morning again. Repeat. Ad nauseum.

Maybe some shock teraphy will help. Projects coming up, and helping someone to do some HTML work for school will eventually get me into drone mode once again. Hopefully.

Gah... Functions, functions, functions... Why are you so hard to comprehend... And yeah, you too arrays...

Or if you have a complete working system selling for under $200 (w/o monitor) or $300 (w/ monitor) then I'm willing to initiate a negotiation.

May or may not be related to the storyNAIROBI (Reuters) - A Kenyan man chopped off one of his testicles in a row with his wife and then walked naked to a police station to report the incident, police said on Monday.

Police rushed 26-year-old Stephen Ongala to hospital after he stumbled into their police station in the border town of Busia in western Kenya on Friday bleeding heavily.

"He said he did it because he had had a disagreement with his wife," said deputy police chief Shadrack Maithya. "If we get evidence that he tried to take his life, then we may charge him because it is a criminal offence."

Hehehe nice... This stupid h0b0 is probably gonna get executed around or on the 1st of July, just a day after the US hand back power to the Iraqis. Now this goes to all them adults and old people (in Brunei) that are still supporting this stupid motherfucker. Hell it ain't hard to hear. Walk around where them adults like to hang out, coffee shops, mosques etc. All you hear is, "He's gonna kill the US army one by one..." or "The uprisings will finally drive the occupation forces out..."

Get it the fuck out of your system ok? He was bad, he killed his own people. He killed his own family members. He paralyzed a son in law (or son, I'm never too sure). He invaded Kuwait, tried to anyway, but the US drove em out. Yeah sure, you can say the US has a motive, and I wholeheartedly agree. But, gee I don't know... When is capitalism as bad as genocide and murder? OK, that will open another can of worms, but hey the fact of the matter is he was bad, mmm-kay? Give me just one solid proof that he was actually a good man, and I'll shove it down your face with the real fact. Well after I've done some researching that is. And of course, without the *ACTUAL* physical shoving action.

And the sorry state he was discovered in. "Dishevelled"... I just so love that word. In 2x2 hole in the ground. Hahahah... Where the fuck is your grand palaces now, huh? Man I just so hate this guy, not because he actually ever did anything to me or my family, but it's just that he is the face that represents our people. And our people actually believe and support anything he says. Hell, you people just need the truth. The real truth. Not some drivel propagated by Malaysian media.

This post is titled Toshiba preps sub-1in HDD by author SoulJah.
Toshiba has developed a 0.85in hard disk platter and will begin sampling drives based on the tiny unit to mobile phone and PDA manufacturers next summer.

The 2-3GB drives will go into mass production early 2005, company insiders claim in a Nihon Keizai Shimbun report yesterday.

Pricing has yet to be set, but the sources suggested the drive will ship for around ¥30,000 ($279). Mass production will push that down to ¥10,000 ($93) after a few years on the market, they claimed.

Such drives have the potential to bring high storage capacities to handheld devices like mobile phones - a key target market for Toshiba's 0.85in drive - by offering a sufficiently low power consumption profile (not to mention physical size).®

I'm too lazy too comment coherently, so yeah... Make up your own minds on this story... All I can say is, about damn time they break the 1 GB barrier... Couple this with Mpeg4 encoding, I'd say we can carry our, AHEM, full length videos in our pockets.

I add feeds, but most of the time I'd be too lazy to update, read, evaluate then post... I'd rather have it while I'm surfing right here in the Opera browser... I can't pick my own feeds, but hey, they already got some nice feeds like The Register, Fark, Linux Today and Lockergnome.

You should blame Opera for me not being able to get you news, so I will be serving you useless random shit.

Don't Read This! Stop! Now! You're Violating Me! Help!

Yeah it does say Knoppix there but naw, I'm not using Knoppix. Actually it couldn't run on this beast of a machine. Damn. I always wanted to run Knoppix ever since I burned it fresh at DST. But anyhoo, Knoppix 3.3 will work, so I just need to download it. There was an issue where Knoppix hangs when it tries to recognize the Firewire hardware. So yeah. I hope I can someone who can download it for me.

But right now I'm using something called Drempels. Yes it does sound like an STD but its the coolest shit ever. It animates your desktop with some funky textures and colors. Try it out. Here, clickity click..

Oh yeah, our dear ConArtist has contracted a virus.... Naw not really, it's a physical virus per se, and it ain't a computer virus either. It's somekind of Spyware that can really swell up. It downloads behind the scenes then reports to some company about your surfing habits. That doesn't scare me, as someone who try to decipher the reasons I visit the sites on the Net, they'd go, What the Fuck?!?! What concerns me is that it can ruin your computer. Imagine starting up Windows and it says something about RunDLL32.exe cannot bla bla bla... Yeah... I'd be pretty freaked out too. But it's nothing a Google search won't help. Turns out it was something called the n-Case. Do yourself a favour. Stop everything you are doing, press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then click on the processes (WinXP) tab and look for n-Case. If you got it, run Spybot Search & Destroy, from http://security.kolla.de/ and get that shit outta there. But please do a forum research first. Once spyware got onto one of the computers at work and it took me from 10 am to about 2pm to fix everything into fine working order. Stupid hijacking spyware. I'd rape ya if ya have a physical asshole.

And oh, please, do download this. It shows another one of my skillz, freestyle rapping. Madd Flow, you ain't got nothing on me.

This post is titled Going on holiday 'lowers your IQ' by author SoulJah. A scientist claims going on holiday makes you stupid. Siegfried Lehrl, of the University of Erlangen and Nuremberg in Germany, claims that sunbathing and relaxation lowers your IQ.

Lehrl agrees people who work hard all year need some time to relax, but he says they should avoid getting bored while on holiday, since boredom affects intelligence.

"Boredom is a warning signal when we feel a lack of mental challenge," he told Berliner Kurier. "Fourteen days of complete rest can be enough to bring your IQ down by 20 points."

So if not a holiday, what does Herr Lehrl recommend? According to the paper, a daily round of backgammon is the preferable option.

Otherwise, take a book along to the beach to stay smart.

This post is titled Internet news sites are better than the Borneo Bulliten anytime ... by author Anonymous. So I was reading thru my regular list of online news sites ... and I found this gem ...

Samurai Slaying

A naked, samurai sword-wielding martial arts expert screaming, "I'm God! I'm immortal" hacked his wife to death yesterday in a blood-soaked Bronx rampage, police said.

When the madman lunged at police, one cop fired 14 shots - bringing down the suspect but also hitting her partner twice. The cop's vest stopped one bullet from hitting his chest, though another slug penetrated his knee.

The wounded cop and suspect were in stable condition last night as relatives mourned 24-year-old Kisha Denton - and wondered what caused her husband almost to decapitate his wife of one year.

Wahahahaha ... !!!

And in the Borneo Bulletin today .... some crap about Brunei winning silver in the SEA games ... Crap !!

This post is titled Rant about Bruneian Companies... by author SoulJah. I just had a revelation... The reason why the cost of services are extraordinarily high here in Brunei is because they (the companies) do not appreciate the customers... Their frame of mind is, "They (the consumers) need us... But we don't need them...". How many of the readers here are subscribers to services? I can guess most, if not all of us are tied to service agreements that charge exorbitant amount of money from our pockets every month. I guess it can't be blamed. If we are to keep up with the jones', we have to... I mean, it's not becoming of a Bruneian to not have a mobile phone, satellite TV, Internet connection et al.

Now I'm not gonna beat you over the head with the "we need multiple companies to serve Brunei, so there can be competition" argument, because that's a dead horse no needing to beat anymore, but this is just a new angle to think of it. And besides, what other company, lest it's a foreign one (which, to be honest, I don't want to 'invade' our fair land) can start up with a capital of millions and make it through the first year? And unless, we can achieve the "1 million population" mark by, I don't know, 2013, I don't think there's any incentive for any other companies to start up business here.

But being a consumer tied to any one company doesn't mean we can't screw up the system. This could be just a silly idea, but it can cause havoc in their accounting departments. Kill off all your subscriptions. All of it. Your mobile phones. Your satellite TV. Your Internet connection. For, maybe a month, or just half a month. I can bet my bottom dollars panic will ensue. If that doesn't cause panicked reactions such as lowering of subscription fees and introduction of better services, I don't know what will. And in this day and age, where everything is about pre-paid this and pre-paid that, its's all the easier. Just resist the temptation to top up for a month, and you'll be doing us all a favor.

Now we need to do this in concerto. I mean, everyone do it. Not just a group of a hundred or so people, because that will barely cause a dent in their accounts. We need to do this all over the country. Maybe then we can be more social, not hiding behind SMS-es or Internet screens, and we will get back our art of conversation (which I find lacking these days.)

But this is just an idea.

This post is titled Kazaa Lite Shut Down by author SoulJah. Document source: http://www.peerguardian.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2311.

Speaking with RatFaced, one of the Kazaa Lite forum moderators today and our contact at K-Lite, I have uncovered news that the Kazaa Lite K++ project has been shut down by Sharman Networks on grounds of copyright infringement.

The project, which had been set up to block spy and ad ware within the Kazaa Media Desktop Program has achieved notoriety within the P2p world through its simplistic approach and success in reverse engineering the Kazaa application.

However, the program infringed on the copyright of Sharman Networks, the company that now own and program the Kazaa Media Desktop application, after the purchase of the code and copyright in 2002. The FastTrack (Kazaa) network is financed through advertising systems, which Kazaa Lite K++ does not include, and so was seen as a threat by the owners.

Sharman have threatened legal action, and ordered that the offending content be removed from the official Kazaa Lite sites, including http://www.kazaalite.tk/ which now contains no reference to the existance of the application.

RatFaced said that the decision was "Ironic, that Kazaa is complaining about copyright issues, especially as K-Lite ++ stands for everything that Kazaa CLAIMS to stand for... but fails to deliver."

We will perhaps never see Kazaa Lite again, but we can hope that users will remain aware of the spyware that is hidden inside the Kazaa application, which is used to finance the creation of the software.

eMule and WinMX offer spyware-free alternatives to Kazaa.

Been reading the threads on Slashdot about this (thanks to my Opera news reader) and it's safe to say that people are not happy about this. Now I don't know if the current version of K++ will still work on the FastTrack network in the near future, but the consensus is, well, it would... Just remember to change your username on there... (Which I totally forgot to do, until now...) Some are even considering switching networks, switching to MLDonkey (way fuckin' hard to figure it out... Don't believe me? Try Google it, download it and e-mail me if you can get it up and running...), or the new emerging network, BitTorrent (way hard to find a specific thing, but the download speeds are amazing, as some have claimed...) Me? I'll just use K++ for now, be a file leech, immediately moving those files to other locations, on a removable harddrive... That should just screw em up for a while... If all else fails, I have my DoD (Department of Defense) -spec data eraser... It's something called Eraser, very light program, integrates into the shell, and it's fast to boot... Well it takes a while to *Completely* erase, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, (7 passes... Yes, I am paranoid) a 100 meg video file, but it gets the job done without hassle...

This post is titled The commitment is the readers... by author SoulJah. And I won't betray that by posting blogs. Rants and raves is where it's at. But if a blog does make it's way in, hell, I'm only human. Heh sorry Yas. Won't be blogging full time any time soon.

Heh, I won't even trust that would ever happen on a Win98 machine. 17 Hours straight... But I think I got it to 24+ Hours once... That was a great achievement for Win98...

While I'm talking Operating Systems, Red Hat has discontinued development of consumer based free operating system, and will only be focusing on it's enterprise version of it's software... Damn... First it was Knoppix, then, it's Red Hat... Why can't these people wait until I get a fast connection for me to download their last software?!?! I mean I can just fuck it and wing it with whatever last version of Red Hat maybe found on weird FTP servers or mIRC channels, but the downside to that is that there won't be anymore updates for the OS... Because I think Red Hat employs something that can download other bits and parts for what you may need to install a program...

I've taken Leo Laporte's advice and switching to SuSE. All I need is to download the distro, partition my harddrive, get a good boot manager and I'm free to go wondering about the world of Linux... I'm giddy like a little schoolgirl all over again...
