Just saw the first two Animatrix episodes and I was blown away! Granted I saw the highest quality .mov file, but the artistry of these masterpieces are mind blowing!
The first one, titled 'The Second Renaissance' pretells the story of how the machines are built to do human bidding but in time, a rogue robot led a rebellion against the humans. The scenes depicted in this clip is chillingly scary. It looks pretty much like ral life war broadcasts. There's one scene where a machine got it's head blown off, very similar to the well known photo of that asian dude that got a gun pointed to his head.
This cinematic anime marvel is an artistic masterpiece. Imagine 'Chaos', (that gem that was shown on Eye Drops on TechTV), mixed with a dash of 'Ghost in the Shell' fluidity. Excuse my shallow knowledge in anime, but that's how I'll put it. Simply, this episode looks very much like recently released anime movies.
The second one, titled 'Program' starts off in a field, depicting a sword battle between a woman and a bunch of computer generated baddies... Well that's how much I wanna say about this episode. I don't wanna ruin the surprise. But it pretty much ties in with the Matrix movie. But one warning though. This episode is drawn out and stretched to fit a ten minute time frame, but if you don't mind the downloading, get the highest quality file, because then you can really appreciate the scale and depth of the scenes in this episode.
